Think I got scammed… Home Depot return gone wrong?

I ordered a Delta Pro Ultra from Home Depot. It took forever to ship, so I tried to cancel it, but they shipped it anyway. I chatted with Home Depot about returning it since it’s big and heavy. They said I could either return it to the store or schedule a pickup. I opted for pickup and gave them the day and time that worked for me. I never got a call but received an email saying On Demand Logistix would pick it up. The details matched what I told them.

They showed up, picked up the item, and emailed me a receipt. Weeks later, I asked Home Depot about my refund. They said no return was scheduled. I sent them the email, and they claimed they’ve never worked with that company. I tried calling the number in the email, but it goes straight to voicemail, and a Google search on the number brings up nothing.

I’m now stuck, not knowing what to do. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

Hey, heads up! Since you’re posting about a possible scam, be careful. Sometimes scammers might message you claiming they can help recover your money or fix things for a fee. Don’t trust private messages like that; stick to advice given here in the comments where others can see it too.

If you spot any sketchy messages or comments, use the report button so mods can check them out. This forum is for helping each other out, not for more scams!

You should contact Home Depot customer service and ask for a manager. Share all the emails and messages you received. It looks like you did everything right, and they need to investigate their processes.

If Home Depot doesn’t resolve this, consider filing a chargeback with PayPal. If PayPal denies it, you can try your credit card company instead.

Send them a message like this: ‘The item has been returned to you. Refund me within 24 hours, or I’ll file a dispute with my bank.’

I paid through PayPal, so I’m thinking about opening a dispute there. I’m just worried I might lose the case.

Make sure you include all the proof, like emails and the receipt from On Demand Logistix. That should help your case.

Thanks, I’ll gather everything and try that.

This might help: Check out this link: BrokerSnapshot - ON DEMAND LOGISTIX LLC. It’s for On Demand Logistix, and it seems like they’re a small freight company. They only have one truck registered, and it looks like they’re based in California.

Are you in San Bernardino County?

Here’s what I found: https://placehold.co/600x400.png

@ANIVAH
Thanks for sharing this. I’ll try reaching out to them.

How did you arrange the return with Home Depot? Did you call them? Where did you get their number? If you just Googled it, there’s a chance you called scammers pretending to be Home Depot.

I used their text support number listed on their website. I’ve used it before, and all my past conversations were still there.

@sandra
I looked into this, and it seems like On Demand Logistix might be a shady contractor. They may have gotten your info through Home Depot’s system but didn’t officially take the job. Instead, they contacted you directly to steal your return.

@Tricky
Wow, I didn’t even think of that. Thanks for the insight.

Was the email from a Gmail account or a business domain?

It was from a company email, but I’m starting to think it wasn’t legit.
