New scams out there

I recently got an email claiming I’d won a large sum of money, but it seemed fishy. I didn’t click on any links, but now I’m worried about potential scams targeting me. Has anyone else experienced something similar? What are some of the new scams out there I should be aware of? How can I protect myself from these types of fraud?

You’re right to be cautious about that email—it sounds like a classic phishing scam. Scammers often use the lure of a big win to trick people into giving away personal information or clicking malicious links. If you didn’t click on anything, you’re probably safe, but it’s smart to stay vigilant. There are several scams going around these days, like fake delivery notifications, IRS impersonations, and tech support scams where they claim your computer is infected. To protect yourself, never click on links or download attachments from unknown senders, and be wary of unsolicited messages that seem too good to be true. It’s also a good idea to regularly update your passwords, enable two-factor authentication on your accounts, and keep your software up to date. If you’re ever in doubt about a message, you can report it or check its legitimacy through official channels before taking any action.

Employment scams are rising, targeting job seekers, especially those recently laid off. Scammers use fake job offers to steal personal information or money. They may lure victims with legitimate-sounding roles, fake interviews, or fraudulent training fees. Seniors seeking extra income are particularly vulnerable to these deceitful schemes.

It’s great that you were cautious about clicking on links in the email. Unsolicited emails claiming you’ve won a prize or lottery are a common type of scam.

Dont buy randomly or pay any money in advance at Facebook marketplace

Recently, I reported several ads that were clearly investment scams and celebrity impersonation scams, and Facebook removed all of them, with some being taken down within just two days.

In the past, many of my reports were rejected as “not violating our terms of service” even a month after submission.

I really hope this isn’t just a fluke and that Facebook is genuinely starting to take scams and user reports more seriously!

EDIT: Why downvote a genuine question?
