I came across this company on Indeed thinking it was a job opportunity but later discovered it’s a Java training program that requires payment. They operate like a boot camp, asking for $5400 in monthly payments after securing a job at $50k/yr or more, similar to Lambda School but cheaper. Founded in 2018 as a nonprofit, there’s limited information available beyond old Reddit posts. Their website mentions conditions to avoid payments, including a questionable provision. As I wait for a background check to clear post-interview, I’m reconsidering whether to proceed. Any insights or experiences with this company would be appreciated.
To all those who may have doubts and reservations (which is completely understandable, because I also have some reservations),
I’ve just completed the assessment and I’m getting ready to submit a video interview. As soon as I completed the assessment, I received a call and an email informing me that I passed the initial admissions assessment. It wasn’t too difficult, just some basic math and logic questions. I suggest having a calculator, notebook, and pencil nearby. If you’re as determined as I am to make progress and break free from the cycle of no degree and no job, I encourage you to take a chance and go for it. Right now, I’m completely broke and have nothing to lose. But even if I don’t find a job, I’ll still have gained some valuable skills.
Hey, just wanted to share my experience. Last year, I joined Merit thinking their partners would help us get jobs after the course, but that’s not true. They teach the course but don’t help with job placement. You’ll just end up job hunting again after a year. You can learn the same stuff elsewhere and get job alerts from Dice or LinkedIn without their help. Save your time and money.
