Is GovDeals a legitimate website?

I recently won a bid for a 2009 Crown Vic Police Interceptor on GovDeals. They said the car has a dead battery and needs a jumpstart. I’ve seen some reviews saying the site is a scam. Has anyone used GovDeals.com? What was your experience?

Why are you asking this after you already bid and won? It’s yours now. You’ll find out soon. Let us know how it goes.

I’m pretty sure that GovDeals is just a website where local governments sell things through auctions. You’ll be dealing directly with the seller, not with GovDeals.

The platform is legit, it’s NOTHING like a used cars lot. Literally just an auction platform for government and university surplus. I have bought many things from there and never had a problem.

Eye eye captain. Thanks for the advice.

It’s got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas.

I bought a car off of govdeals.com a few years ago. It worked out fine.

I am looking into doing this. Based off your experience, is it feasible to buy a car from a different state and get it shipped out here? I don’t understand the UI regarding communication interface between buyer and seller either.

I never looked into shipping one. I knew I’d be picking up the car in person. I suppose anything is possible, though?

You took their word that was all that was stood with it lol? Hopefully you’re lucky

Yes, the site is full of scammers, and the company does some shady things, like removing the payment link and then claiming you’re late so they can charge extra fees. I think they do this when the item can’t be found or has already been sold elsewhere.

Be careful! If you search “govdeals reviews” on Google, you’ll find tons of horror stories. It’s best to avoid them unless you’re lucky enough to have an honest seller nearby.
