I got offered a remote job with good pay and benefits by a company called Vesta Healthcare. Everything seemed legit at first. They had me download this app called Chatwork, and the interview was all done through messages there. Spent like an hour back and forth with the hiring manager. Then the next day they offered me the job. Here’s where it got weird… They said they’d send me a check to deposit in my personal account to buy equipment. That’s when I realized it’s a scam. They even tried erasing all the emails and messages. Luckily, I screenshotted everything! If anyone else gets this, REPORT IT! Never deposit checks from companies into your personal account! Stay safe!
Heads up to everyone new to this forum, watch out for scammers pretending to be hackers or recovery experts. They’ll offer to help get your money back for a small fee, don’t fall for it! Keep everything in the comments so the community can help you out. If you take advice in private, you’re on your own. Stay smart, and feel free to report anything shady.
This is another classic job scam with a fake check. They just switch up the company names every time, so don’t worry too much about the name. It’s the same scam, just different packaging.

Hey /u/superduperstepdad, here’s a quick rundown of how the fake check scam works: You get a check, deposit it, see the money in your account, and then they get you to send money back. Thing is, the check takes time to bounce, and once it does, the bank pulls that money from your account, leaving you out the money you sent. Always double-check before depositing anything fishy! If you’ve been caught in this scam, contact your bank immediately.

Hey /u/superduperstepdad, this sounds like a typical job scam. Scammers will often hire you without the usual interview process, and if they ask you to deposit a check or deal with any kind of transactions, it’s a scam. They may even ask you to buy equipment from a fake site. Watch out if you’re dealing with payments or packages, they could be using you as a mule in their scam. Stay safe!
If your job interview feels more like a bunch of silence and they ask you to deposit money into your personal account, run! Good move with taking screenshots, you dodged a bullet!

Exactly! If they’re playing hot potato with checks, you know it’s time to get out fast!
Yeah, some of these scams are harder to spot than others. Glad you caught on!
