Stranger on the forum offering $300 to record guitar tracks... what's the catch?

Only conduct transactions where you’d still feel comfortable if the roles were reversed.

If you wouldn’t send a total stranger more money than you’re supposed to, then don’t do it.

It’s a scam. They’ll send you money, but it’s fake. In a few weeks, you’ll find the check bounces and you’re left without the $2700 you sent back.

They’ll probably ask you to send money back via gift cards, crypto, or a non-refundable method.

By the time the check bounces, they’ll be long gone with the money.

He’s probably going to send $1300 and ask for $1000 back. You’ll see it in your account, so you send him the $1000. But when the $1300 bounces, your account will end up negative. The scammer gets away with the $1000.

I’m curious, what makes you think this might not be a scam?

I suggest using Fiverr for any transactions like this. It’s safer.
