Has anyone used Tripmasters? I want to book a flight and hotel package for Seoul/Tokyo, and the prices look great. Most reviews are positive but a few years old. Has anyone used it recently? I usually book packages on Expedia, but they don’t offer multi-destination options. Are there better booking sites for this?
I’ve used it many times and almost never had a problem. I even got a great upgrade for our upcoming trip to Japan.
I’ve used Tripmasters twice for multi-destination trips, which is their specialty. In 2019, I used them for London and Paris, and this past August for Italy and Sicily. I customize their offers a lot—like not using their hotel in Florence (I booked an apartment instead), but using their hotel in Rome, and handling Sicily on my own. I used their airfare package for NYC to Rome (round trip) and arranged the rest on my own.
If you book a two-week trip with them, spending 7 days in each city, you only need to use their hotel in one of the cities. You can choose your own accommodation for the other city if you prefer, which can save money or offer more convenience. For example, I found their Rome hotel affordable, so I used it, but their Florence hotel was too expensive, so I booked an apartment myself for half the cost.
Tripmasters works well if you know how to get the best travel deals.
I’ve used it several times (and used European Destinations before TM bought it) and had good results. We always adjust the hotel locations. If we’re in a country where we don’t speak the language, we try to stay as close as possible to a popular tourist area.
I used it once and didn’t like the train times they booked for me, so be careful with that if you’re visiting multiple cities.
My wife and I used them for trips to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Peru. Our trip to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand was excellent, but our trip to Peru wasn’t as good (though I blame JetBlue, not Tripmasters).
Pros: Good value, lots of package options (or you can create your own), and the website lets you easily explore different dates and prices.
Cons: Some hotels are just okay, but you can pay more for upgrades. I haven’t used their excursions, as I usually book those through TripAdvisor. Overall, I’m happy with their service and continue to use them.
If you’re reading this, it’s better to book everything on your own or choose a different service. This place is definitely a scam, and I will never use them again.
I booked a trip to Spain, but then the pandemic hit. They kept my money, so I used it to go to Costa Rica once things calmed down. The hotels were good and close to transportation.
