I’m thinking about buying a Hamilton watch from Ashford because it’s on sale. I’ve done some research and heard that the quality control might not be great when I get the watch, and their customer service and return policy could be risky. Any advice would be helpful!

Ashford is completely legit and is an authorized dealer for Hamilton (though that’s not true for all the brands they sell). I’ve bought many watches from them over the years, and when there were a few issues, they accepted returns and gave full refunds. Their customer service is much better than Jomashop’s!
I had read about other people’s experiences with Jomashop, and most of them were good. However, I was a little worried about their warranty because they only offer their own, not the manufacturer’s.
I wanted an affordable automatic watch to go along with my quartz watches, and I found a great deal on a Tissot linked from another site to Ashford. On their site, it mentioned a “manufacturer’s warranty,” which made me feel better about buying from them.
I placed my order but was disappointed that I didn’t get an email confirmation. For some reason, I rarely receive emails from about 1 in 80 senders to my own domain. I contacted customer service, and they got back to me pretty quickly (within a day). With my order number, I was able to check the order status on their site.
The order shipped fast (within a day), and I received it via UPS SurePost in about three days. I was impressed with how Tissot packaged the watch at this price, and everything was perfect.
So, based on my one experience, I would definitely order from Ashford again.
Later, I made a new account with a Gmail address and started getting emails from them without any issues.
I’ve used both Ashford and Jomashop many times, and I can say that Ashford has much better customer service than Jomashop. As you noticed, Ashford is an authorized dealer for several brands they sell, which is shown on specific product pages. I’m glad to hear you had a good experience with Ashford!
Ashford is terrible—don’t order from them. They sent me a watch with a broken buckle. I asked for a return label right away, but they told me to make a video showing the problem with the buckle. I made the video and showed that I couldn’t unbuckle the watch properly. Then they replied and said the video showed I wore the watch, so they wouldn’t accept the return.
Jomashop sells fakes. I got a fake pair of Gucci sunglasses from them when I ordered through Gilt.
I bought a watch on April 10 and received it by April 11, which was fast shipping. But after wearing it for a week, it stopped working, even though I didn’t touch it. I asked to return it, but they wouldn’t accept it. This is the first time I’ve heard that you can’t return something in the U.S. Oh my gosh! I would never recommend this place.
Don’t trust Ashford. The people running the company don’t care about their customers.
