I recently applied for a job on Indeed, and the employer asked me to take a test. After I submitted it, they showed interest in hiring me. A woman from their office called, but I didn’t answer at first because the call came from New York, and I don’t usually pick up calls from unknown numbers, especially since the company is based in Texas. The owner mentioned I missed the call, so I apologized and called back. During the conversation, she asked if I was still interested in the job, which felt odd since I had already been in contact with the owner through email. I said I was still interested but asked for details about pay and hours. She didn’t have that info and said she’d call back, but I never heard from her again.
Then, the owner asked for my school records, which I sent but left out my SSN for safety. He later said they were ready to hire me immediately, but then asked for my SSN and bank details, which made me suspicious. I looked into the company and confirmed it’s legitimate and has offices in both the U.S. and India, though their U.S. branch is new. They also have a physical office.
To be safe, I emailed the company’s official address to ask if this was a phishing attempt. The owner replied but from a different email address, not the one he had been using or the official company email. He seemed upset and told me I needed to learn to do better research. This whole situation felt off and unprofessional.
Also, $15 an hour is way below minimum wage where I live, so that seemed like a scam too.
Hey, new users should be careful! You might start getting messages from scammers saying they know a hacker or a lawyer who can help you get your money back for a small fee. These are recovery scammers, so don’t take advice from them privately. Always ask for advice here on the forum where everyone can help watch your back. If you get any private advice, you’re on your own.
Also, here are some rules for the forum: no personal info, no insults, and no posts asking for help from personal armies or scamming the scammers. If you see anything breaking the rules, report it using the ‘report’ button. We look at all reports. If you have any questions about the forum rules, you can message us directly.
The demand for your banking info in such a short time is a huge red flag, and the fact that they got upset with you for doing some research is a huge warning sign.
Is this one of those ‘work from home’ jobs? If so, that’s another red flag.
No legitimate company with operations in both India and the US would waste their time emailing you like this just to prove they’re real. And they wouldn’t care if you find them suspicious. They would just thank you for your time and move on.
The domain being registered to the actual person’s name, not a company name, is also super shady.
The reviews are obviously fake, and the website itself is full of grammar mistakes. I have no idea what service they’re even offering. This is a scam.
I’d bet that their operations in the US are focused on identity theft.
