How to report a scammer on Twitch?

I was streaming on Twitch yesterday when someone messaged me, claiming to be a marketing expert who would promote my stream. I realized it was probably a scam, so I played along to get some info.

I managed to get a picture of his face (or at least a photo he says is him), a business name, and the name he gave me (not sure if it’s real).

How can I report him so he doesn’t try this on others?

Heads up for new members:

Posting here may lead to private messages from scammers who claim they know a “hacker” or “recovery expert” who can help you get your money back for a small fee. These are what we call “recovery scammers.” NEVER take advice in private; always discuss in the thread where others can look out for you. If you accept private advice, you’re on your own.

Forum rules to remember: Keep personal information private (last names, phone numbers, etc.), be respectful, and no requests for “scam baiting.” No uncensored gore or personal photos without blurring. Full rules are available in the sidebar, or you can read them here.

Please help us by reporting recovery scammers or rule-breaking comments using the “report” button. We review every report. You can also warn others in the thread if you spot a recovery scammer.

Report him to Twitch, but keep in mind scammers rarely use their real identities.

Unfortunately, none of the info he gave you is likely real. By tomorrow he’ll have a new photo, new company name, and new alias.

Report him on Twitch, report the DMs, and include screenshots as proof if needed.

Like others mentioned, once he’s caught, he’ll just make a new account. Also, be careful of people reaching out on Discord with similar “help” offers to boost your channel. Even popular streamers have to remind followers they aren’t sending these messages.

Here’s an example:

Recently, someone posted here with a scammer pretending to be Witwix too, lol.

@AmicusAlcove
Yeah, luckily he didn’t ask me for personal info. Not that I would’ve given him any anyway.

But it could be bad for someone who doesn’t know much about these kinds of scams—they could end up sharing passwords, stream keys, or other private info.

@Brittany
Definitely true. If someone’s desperate to grow or just in a tough spot mentally, they might fall for it.

Glad you caught on, though! And good luck growing your stream! :slight_smile:
