I got a $50 Vanilla gift card for Christmas and tried to use it online since I don’t have a bank account. But after waiting almost 24 hours, the card kept declining all my transactions even though it was activated. I called customer service but got no help, so I searched online and found that a lot of people are having the same issue. The website shows the card is active with the same balance, but it still won’t work. What should I do?

Ahh sorry I know it was long, I just wanted to follow the rules and give as much detail as I could haha! Thanks for the tips too. If my card starts working, I’ll keep them in mind

Go back and edit your post into something more readable. Paragraphs would really help.
Vanilla gift cards are not a scam, but there are lots of scams related to them. As the other person mentioned, your post really needs some paragraph breaks and to be more concise in order to figure out what happened.
In the future, you’d be better off not buying gift cards, especially in person. Too many risks and fees. It’s better to open a real, FDIC-insured bank account where you can deposit money and get a credit card for online purchases so you have protection like chargebacks.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll definitely be more careful next time. I’ve been trying to avoid opening my own bank account with my parents since I’m still a minor. Sorry for the long post, I’ll keep it shorter next time!
Yeah, way too much to read. Vanilla cards aren’t a scam. I’m not sure about transferring to your bank account because I just use them like they’re meant to be used.

Yeah, trying to transfer it to my Cash App was a last-ditch effort after all my attempts to get my gift card to work . Sorry again for the long post!
