Anyone else heard about this sneaky hotel scam going around?

Worth mentioning: hotels usually hold a certain amount on your card when you check in. If there’s an issue, you won’t be checking in without fixing it first.

If I get this kind of call, my response is, ‘Sure, I’ll come down when I have a moment.’

Every hotel I’ve stayed at makes you give the guest’s room number and name before they’ll put a call through. Has that changed?

Most hotels do that, but there’s always that one place that lets their guard down. Scams only work if people are careless.

This scam has been going on for quite some time.

It may not be a new scam, but it got me once! When I hung up, I had a weird feeling, so I canceled my card and went down to the front desk. Annoying, especially since it was late at night. Never falling for that again.
